A variety of small tasks
Today I had my hand in moving a few different projects a little further towards completion.
First off was flattening some segmented rings that I had glued up yesterday. After that was finished, I then glued those rings together and then clamped them together to sit overnight. The lettering/numbering you see on the inside of each ring helped me to keep track of the layout of each layer, as each individual segment was intentionally placed to satisfy my need for order and to maximize the artistic intent I had.
Next up was working on a large slab of cedar that had been sitting and waiting for some epoxy to cure (which had been poured into cracks). I attached a tenon and then rough turned it so I could place it in some wood shavings to dry. I had noticed when I was turning it that I was getting wet, which is a good sign that the piece of wood isn’t completely dry. Putting the wood into shavings is a good way to slow down the rate of moisture loss which in turn helps to minimize the chance of further cracking.
Lastly, I poured some coloured epoxy into the void of the bottom-most segmented ring of another bowl I have recently been working on.
